Webinar 1 : Prevalence of “Conversion Therapy” in the South and the Experiences of the Survivors

- Recorded on October 15, 2020

So-called “conversion therapy” is prevalent in the American South. Using the findings from the LGBTQ Institute Southern Survey dataset, we discuss the prevalence, demographics, and mental health of “conversion therapy” survivors, where one in eight report having experienced this form abuse. The discussion focuses on the personal stories, how to recognize this abuse, and how individuals can support those who have gone through this experience.

Webinar 2, Strategies, Law, Hope and Healing: A Roadmap to Ending “Conversion Therapy”

- Recorded on October 29, 2020

This webinar will explore the efforts being taken to end “conversion therapy.” While all leading professional medical and mental health associations reject “conversion therapy” as a legitimate medical treatment, there are still some health, spiritual and religious practitioners who use it and cause harm. We explore the outreach being done to educate these communities, and the importance of the heart and mind change work being done alongside the legislative movement to ban these destructive practices.
